Membership Guidelines

GFTCC is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization. Our goal is to promote and nurture long term Tai Chi practice for physical and spiritual well-being in our communities. The following member guidelines specify the general expectations for our members. They have evolved from our traditions and serve to build a healthy environment in which we can all enjoy Tai Chi:

  1. Be diligent in Tai Chi practice. Please be consistent and prompt in attending classes. If you know you will be absent in advance, please contact your group’s instructor and the Membership Coordinator via email.
  2. Be responsible and on time for membership dues.  Currently, the membership fee is $120 per quarter (3 months). This covers the venue rental, Sunday classes, insurance, and other miscellaneous costs. Workout clothing and special classes are purchased separately. Tuesday practice fees are also separate. We ask that you promptly pay this amount at the beginning of each quarter (January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st).
  3. Please show respect for the instructors and support for fellow members. Respect is an essential element in the code of conduct for learning Tai Chi, a transitional Chinese healing art. Please also remember that humility is a fundamental quality in Tai Chi practice.
  4. Practice GFTCC’s core values: Defeating others is not a success we seek, improving oneself is.
  5. Support and contribute to the operations of the Club.   As a volunteer-based organization, we appreciate wide range of contributions, including but not limited to:
    • participation in Tai Chi demonstrations at community events,
    • assisting with any events GFTCC hosts.
  6. It’s imperative to have the Lead Instructor’s permission before formally teaching what you learned at GFTCC, whether inside or outside the club. This tradition in Chinese martial arts serves to show respect for cultural heritage and to ensure high-quality Tai Chi instruction.
  7. Even with the best intention of a long-term relationship with the club, we understand that there may come a time when you need to leave the club. When that happens, please have the courtesy to inform the Membership Coordinator that you will no longer be a member. We will always be happy to have you as a friend.

Thank you for your willingness to contribute your share in making our club a great learning avenue. Let’s explore the wonders of Tai Chi together!
